HLL registers impressive growth; pays Rs. 453 lakhs as dividend

HLL Lifecare Ltd, a public sector healthcare delivery company, has paid Rs. 453 lakhs as dividend to the Government of India for the financial year 2013-14, marking their yet another year of robust performance.

HLL, which is headquartered in Kerala’s capital Thiruvananthapuram, grossed a record business of Rs. 1,586 crores during the fiscal year.

Dr M Ayyappan, the Chairman and Managing Director of HLL, handed over the dividend cheque to Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Mr. Jagat Prakash Nadda in the presence of Union Health Secretary Mr. Luv Verma and other senior officials at a function held in New Delhi.

Mr. Nadda lauded HLL’s rapid and sustained growth and assured his Ministry’s full support for all its new ventures.

HLL’s performance, in terms of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Government of India, has consistently been rated as excellent for the last five years.

Currently HLL Group consists of 6 entities - parent company HLL Lifecare Ltd (HLL), HLL Biotech (HBL), HLL Infra Tech Services Ltd (HITES), LifeSpring Hospitals, Goa Antibiotics and Pharmaceuticals Limited (GAPL)and Hindustan Latex Family Planning Promotion Trust (HLFPPT).

HLL manufactures contraceptives, hospital products, pharmaceuticals, natural products, personal hygiene products and provides diagnostic services. A wholly owned subsidiary of HLL, HBL is implementing a Rs. 594-crore Integrated Vaccines Project at Chengalpet near Chennai, a first of its kind venture in the public sector.  The newly formed subsidiary of HLL, HITES, specialises in infrastructure development, procurement consultancy and facility management services in the health sector.

Lifespring hospitals, based in Hyderabad, hold an equity partnership between HLL and Acumen Fund Inc., a U.S.-based nonprofit global venture philanthropy fund.  The hospital provides maternity care and support services for the marginalised population. HLL also owns 74 per cent share in GAPL.

HLFPPT is a not-for-profit organization promoted by HLL has been implementing Reproductive and Child Health, HIV AIDS Prevention, Care and Support Programmes since 1991.
