DM Healthcare announced investment

DM Healthcare, a leading healthcare conglomerate in India and West Asia, has announced Rs 2,150 crore investments in Kerala. Mr. Azad Moopen, Chairman, DM Healthcare said that Kerala poses as a highly priority destination for the investment in India in view of the demand for advanced healthcare facilities in the state. The company is in the process of developing an array of healthcare facilities in various locations in the State and most of these projects are expected to operational in the next five years.

He said the Company will take this opportunity to develop the Aster Medcity that will not only support the medical requirements of the State and country, but also provide venue for medical tourism to the country from abroad.

The DM Healthcare group is developing Aster Medcity, a world class hi-tech healthcare destination being developed in over 40 acres that integrates nature with healing, in Kochi. The first phase, which is being developed at a project outlay of Rs 500 crore, includes a 550 bed Core Hospital with 9 Centres of Excellence in various super-specialties like Cardiology, Ortho, and Oncology.

With high-end infrastructure, cutting edge technology and excellent knowledge partnership where care is delivered with compassion, Aster Medcity is a conglomeration of many multi-super specialty hospitals in one campus. The first phase of Aster Medcity is on track for commissioning during the second half of 2013.

Aster Medcity campus shall have a 500 seat Medical Convention Center, a 4-5 star hotel and serviced apartment complex, staff accommodation for medical and para-medical staff. A high end residential facility of about 1.5 million square feet is also planned with the integrated township having a population of about 10,000 people.

DM Healthcare, which is a major stake holder of MIMS, will drive the expansion of the existing facilities at the Malabar Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) in Kozhikode and Kottakkal. The group is also trying to address the healthcare requirement in Wayanad and surrounding areas, by setting up a Medical College with 700 bed hospital in district.

DM Wayanad Medical College and DM WIMS Hospital is set to become a comprehensive academic medical campus, providing graduate and post-graduate courses and research facilities in medicine, dental, nursing, pharmacy, paramedical and associated subjects.
